Two

The Newlymeds recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary.  It feels like yesterday I did this post on "How To" Plan a Fabulous 1 Year Anniversary Celebration.

This year was slightly different, since we had just returned from a family vacation.  More on that later!  On the last night of our trip, my grandparents had an anniversary celebration for both Doctor J and I and my parents.  We share an anniversary and this year they were celebrating 30 years!  Nothing like a little cake and champagne (and sparkling cider for the little ones).  A big thank you to Momma G. and Poppa G. for the special double celebration!

{My parents on our wedding night}

On our actual anniversary night we ordered in pizza, ate piece of our wedding cake (from the freezer and yes it was still good!) and danced.   Doctor J obliged and danced with me.  It was a fun little romantic moment that brought us back to our wedding night.  We also watched this incredible lip-dub proposal that brought tears to both of our eyes.

It's pretty special life gives us occasions to stop and appreciate the people we love in our lives.

Junkanoo

Junkanoo: A street parade overflowing with music + dancing that usually occurs in the Bahamas the day after Christmas and New Years.

A few weeks ago on a work trip to the Bahamas, I experienced a little something called Junkanoo.  The origins date back to 17th century slavery as a way for the bahamians to celebrate their rare freedoms.  For me, this celebration brought back wonderful memories of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Check out a few colorful shots below.
