When company comes in town, it is always a good idea to have lots of snacks on hand. I usually like to put a mix of sweet and savory snacks in bowls around my apartment. It is also a fun excuse to whip out some of the pretty bowls you may have received as wedding gifts that are sitting in your cabinet collecting dust!
These New Years Nuts are something you can make, keep in your pantry, and then throw in a bowl for snacking when the guests arrive!
They also make a lovely holiday gift to bring to the office, but since I didn't get around to writing this post during holidays, we are now officially calling them New Years Nuts!
Here are the quick and easy steps to make your very own New Years Nuts.
INGREDIENTS:1 pound of pecans or walnuts
1 egg white + 1 tablespoon of water (beat till frothy)
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Coat nuts with egg mixture in a bowl
Mix coated nuts with sugar mixture
Place on baking sheet in a single layer
Bake at 300 degrees for 1/2 hour. Make sure to stir a few times and watch that your nuts don't burn.
Serve in small bowls or package up in a mason jar to bring over to a friend.
