The little things are the best things

IMG_2482
Yesterday was my birthday and I added the final number to my twenty-something age.   (Scary!)  The day made me realize, that the little things are the best things.

I went to work after starting my day off with an early morning yoga class.  I wouldn't say it was the most productive work day because it is WAY too easy, on your birthday, to be distracted by wonderful calls, emails, texts and Facebook posts!

That night Doctor J and I had planned a low key night in because he was on call.  He would have to field hospital calls and possibly go in if there were any emergencies.  I decided that being left at home in my p.j's was better than being left at a restaurant!

We picked up pizza from one of my favorite places, ate cake and watched a movie.  I have to say it was one of my best birthdays yet!  We said no presents this year as we are focusing more on the baby…I maaaay regret this later, but I didn't even feel like I was missing anything.

Yesterday made me realize that spending time with and hearing from the ones you love is what really makes birthdays so special.  I was overwhelmed with the love from friends and family.  I was sharing my feelings with Doctor J last night and became a little emotional about it.  Now maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but I just feel so excited about bringing our baby into this world surrounded by the loving people we are so lucky to have in our lives.

Here is to making this year the best one yet!

Happy birthday!!!
Oh, pregnancy hormones! They make everything so much more emotional. But isn't it wonderful to be overwhelmed with the love of family and friends?! :)

Happy Birthday! I agree! I think we have started to realize as a society that low key and being with those you love is the most important! What lucky girl!

Also, I have been walking into dinner 3 times and had the pager go off. Cereal at 11pm is always a yummy date night dinner-- hah! :)
